- Roudnice nad Labem is located on the
Elbe river. Its palais was a center of a big and

in middle Bohemia is a district town of 20.000

- In the Beskydy mountains, beneath the sacred mountain
Radhost, protected by the heathen´s god Radegast, a
small town of Roznov pod Radhostem attracts
thousands of visitors every year, mainly due to the
oldest open-air museum in our country. The Beskydy mountains, a western part of
the Carpathian Ellbow, belong to the most preserved
regions in Moravia.
- Rumburk - the

- Rychnov
nad Kneznou is a small charming district town (12.000
inhabitants) in the Orlicke hory (Adlergebirge) in the
north-eastern part of Bohemia. Because of poor living
conditions, it was a center of huge emigration to the USA
in the second half of the 19th century.
- Sedlcany in district Pribram is a
tiny town with a population of 5000. Famous for its
cuttlery.
- One of the starting points to the Cesky raj (Czech
paradise) with its wild sandstone towns, rivers, woods
and ruins of proud medieval castles is the district town
of Semily. (CZ + E + G)
- Slavonice, a renaissance pearl of the architecture on the
Bohemian - Moravian border. A near medieval castle Landstejn
has its own site (history, pictures, coat-of-arms, events
calendar CZ).
- Smrzovka
in the Jizerske hory (Isergebirge - description,
pictures, history, turist activities, travel, transport
CZ + E)
- Strakonice in the Southern Bohemia
has more than 20.000 inhabitants. Ruins of medieval
castle in the centre of the town. Annual festival of
bag-pipers from all over the world. The official info

- Stochov.
Industrial community near the city of Kladno. Brown
coal mines.
- Svitavy
, though an old Moravian town, by administrative
changes located in the East Bohemian region. Svitavy, in
German Zwittau (CZ + E) was a center of so
called Hrebec - Schoehengst region. A birthplace of Oscar

- The Krkonose mountains (Riesengebirge) have several
outstanding resort centers. One of them is a small town Svoboda nad Upou (Freiheit an der
Aupa)
- But the most famous center of winter sports in Krkonose
is Spindleruv
Mlyn (Spindlermuehle) under the highest Bohemian
mount Snezka - Schneekoppe (1605 m).
- Sternberk (Sternberg) in North
Moravia near the city of Olomouc was founded by the Lords
of Sternberg and there is a star above the mountains in
the town´s crest until now.
- Sumperk
(CZ)(Moehrisch Schoenberg) is located in the Jeseniky
Mountains. A district town (CZ
+ E) of 30.000 people, center of textile (linen)
industry.
- Tachov (Tachau) in the
Boehmerwald (Cesky les) is the westernmost Czech district
town with more than 10.000 people. CZ
- Tanvald
and Smrzovka
are the twin towns between the Krkonose and the Jizerske
mountains (Riesen und Isergebirge) in the North Bohemia
near the city of Liberec.
- The wonderful town square of Telc (South
Moravia) is a part of the World Cultural Heritage
declared by UNESCO. (CZ + E)
- Teplice,
(CZ)a spa in the Krusne hory (Erzgebirge) with more than
60.000 inhabitants.
- The tall spire of the Tovacov´s
palais rules over the fertile region of Hana in Central
Moravia.
- Trebic
is a district town with 30.000 people in Western Moravia.
Center of footwear industry. The official

- Trinec in
Silesia on the Olse river is a center of steel industry.
A town of 25.000 inhabitants.
- One of the starting points when visiting Cesky raj
(Bohemian Paradise) is Turnov, a town located in its heart,
past and present center of quarrying, manufacture of
jewellary made of Boemian garnets, cut glass artificial
jewellery, monocrystals and synthetic stones.
- Uherske Hradiste, a former royal
town on the Morava river in South-East Moravia. Now with
50.000 inhabitants. Old cultural center, with first
settlements dating back to the 9th century. Regional

- Uhersky Brod, in the district of
Uherske Hradiste, is one of potential birthplaces of Jan
Amos Komensky - Comenius, a famous Czech scholar and
founder of the Church of Moravian Brethren. A so called Comenius´
map of Moravia from the year 1627 is one of the
oldest cartography works in our countries.
- A center of North Bohemian region is the city of Usti nad
Labem (Aussig), located on the Elbe river near the
Saxony border, with 100.000 inhabitants. The second

- Valaske Mezirici in
district Vsetin is a center of a region called Vallachia.
- Varnsdorf on the northern border with Germany. A local

- Vimperk
in the Sumava region
- Vodnany is a small town of 5000
people in the Southern Bohemia, between Pisek and Ceske
Budejovice.
- Volyne is located on the northern
slopes of the Sumava - Boehmerwald.
- Vracov is a small community in
Southern Moravia, near the town of Kyjov. A center of
wine region.
- The biggest town in the Krkonose mountains is Vrchlabi
- Hohenelbe (CZ + E). The starting point to the
National Park of Krkonose. A museum, which features a
permanent ecological exhibition describing the
relationship of life and inanimate nature in the
mountains, exhibition of art craftsmanship, folk arts and
beginnings of turismus and mountaineering.
- Vysoke Myto
in East Bohemia with today´s 14 000 inhabitants has an
old history as the royal town donated to the Bohemian

- Zabreh na Morave
near the town of Sumperk has 13.000 inhabitants.(CZ + E)
- Zbraslav
is today a suburb of Prague. A convent of Zbraslav
hosts exhibitions of National Gallery
- The city of Zlin (CZ) with its 100.000
inhabitants is a cultural and industrial center of the
East Moravia. It used to be a headquarters of the BATA
footwear industry. Located in a valley, with its rectagle
streets, redbrick houses, parks and wooded slopes, Zlin

- The border region with Austria has a variety of cultural
and natural beauties. Znojmo
belongs to the oldest Czech towns.Znojmo is center of a district.
- Zdar
nad Sazavou, a district town of 20.000 inhabitants in
western part of Moravia, was a center of a Cisterciens´
estate. The pilgrim church on the Zelena hora was
proclaimed by UNESCO as a part of the World Cultural
Heritage.
- Zelezna
Ruda is a border market town in the Sumava mountains.
The summer and winter resort center.
Various regions of Bohemia and Moravia:
- the Beskydy Mountains (East Moravia)
with the highest peak Lysa hora (1329 m), are the
mounains of an unspoiled natural beauty and of an old
cultural heritage, though a biggest industrial region of
Ostrava is located on their northern edge.
- The district of Ceskolipsko (Ceska Lipa - Leipa) is
the region of formerly volcanic hills, wild woods, lakes
and uranium mines. It is called Ceske stredohori (
Boehmische Mittelgebirge).
- The Ceskomoravska vrchovina presents a
large region on both sides of borders between Bohemia and
Moravia. The most visited towns are Jihlava (Iglau), Zdar
nad Sazavou, Hlinsko, Litomysl, Chrudim, Havlickuv Brod,
Humpolec and Trebic. Another server provides information

- Cesky raj (Bohemian Paradise) was
mentioned several times within entries of the towns of
Jicin, Turnov and Semily. One of the most famous natural
regions in the Czech Republic.
- Ceske stredohori
around the towns of Litomerice, Lovosice, Bilina, Usti
nad Labem, Decin and Ceska Lipa has an interesting
English and Czech site (national park, towns, castles,
chateaux, culture, photos, map).
- The region of Southern Bohemia around Ceske
Budejovice, Cesky Krumlov, Pisek, Strakonice, Trebon,
Jindrichuv Hradec and Tabor is like a fairy tale. A
pictoresque landscape with old farmers´ homesteads on
village plazzas, proud palais and castles, small blue

region of heavy industry and mining activities.
- The empress Marie Theresia lost nearly all Silesia in
wars against Prussia. Only a small part of Silesia around Opava,
Krnov, Ostrava and Tesin remained within her empire as a
part of the Bohemian Crown Lands
- TheSumava mountains, the Boehmerwald,
was a natural protection of Bohemia from the West for
centuries. The Bohemian Germans and Czechs built
prosperous and lively towns of Domazlice (Taus) Horsovsky
Tyn (Bischofteinitz), Klatovy (Klattau), Susice
(Suschitz), Vimperk (Winterberg), Volyne, Volary
(Wollarn), Prachatice (Prachatitz) a Cesky Krumlov
(Krummau).The beauty of glacial
lakes (Cerne, Certovo, Laka, Prasilske) is
